Chess NYC G & T Quads!

Hi! How's life? ^_^

For me, I played in the Chess NYC G & T Quads (for players rated 1000+) on December 19, which was the last in the season. The way these quads work is that all players are divided into groups of four based on their monthly supplement. The top four players that registered would be Quad 1, and then it goes all the way down to the bottom four registered players above 1000. Therefore, I was put into Quad 4 with Li Heng Wang, Anthony Saquisili, and Ankit Raparthi. The time control was G/70, d5.

The Quads were a round-robin, so everybody played everyone in their quad. I fortunately beat everyone, so I got $50 for my perfect score (as well as winning the event.) I also got my rating back over 1800! :D

My life be like...

Hey!  Sorry I haven't been updating in a while - I had school midterms (boo!) and a lot of other stuff! In late November, after Thanksgiving, I played in a tournament at Avenues: The World School and broke 1800 USCF! (Enough to qualify me to the 2016 World Youth!! 😊) Then, I played in the K-12 Grade Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I scored only 4/7 in the 8th grade section, with 4 wins and 3 losses. However, I 'should have won' all the games I lost! Basically, I got winning positions, winning material in some cases, and somehow managed to screw them up badly and lose! All my opponents I lost to were 1800+, and everyone I beat was at least 300 points lower rated than me. Of course, I didn't get any prizes, but my brother, Alan, who was rated 700, also got 4/7 points which was great for someone his rating and got the 2nd place prize for players rated 600-800 in the 4th grade section! His rating now is around 850 and my rating went down about 25 points from Nationals. I got my 4th category title now, though (finally.)

Anyway, for anyone that does celebrate it, what did you do (are you doing) for Thanksgiving? I just went to a Thanksgiving chess camp, hung out with my family, and ate special Thanksgiving foods such as turkey, gravy, cornbread, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie!

I'm Sophie. I play chess, mainly in scholastic tournaments, but sometimes I also play in tournaments with adults. I have been playing competitively for about a year, and my current USCF rating is 1782 and counting!
My main goal at this moment is to qualify to the 2016 World Youth Chess Championship!! ( ﾉ^ω^)ﾉﾟ
